Just heard the sad news that one of my "other" guitar heroes, Edward Van Halen passed today from cancer. As a high school student I used to go see Van Halen quite often at the local L.A. clubs. Ironically, it was because of going to club gigs that I got to see and meet Bill and Ian when they played at the Whiskey where toward the end of Van Halen's pre-release days, they played often.
Shocked to hear this news. Eddie was a very talented player and whilst Van Halen, (the band,) wasn't quite my cup of tea, I always had great respect for Eddie's guitar playing. Very sad news and my sympathies and condolences go out to his loved ones. Rest in peace, Eddie. 🙁
