Yes, back to Trump again..I will be brief, he makes my brain want to implode!
"Hate has no place in the United States" says President Trump yesterday...really?..you almost have to admire his giant sized cast-iron balls....this comment comes from a guy who refers to Mexicans as rapists and criminals...now if that rhetoric isn't fuelling the fire of hatred and race-hate within the extreme right of the USA, I don't know what else to say.
The low-life scum that committed the atrocity in El Paso was apparently a far right 'white supremacist', who had travelled hundreds of miles to unleash his evil, from early interpretations at least..El Paso has an 80% Hispanic population.
Trump then finished his comments with something along the lines of, he has something really special (related to this) to announce on Monday (today)...
...I wonder if this 'special announcement' will have anything to do with white nationalism?, and gun control?...perhaps??...seeing as these are the real issues he should be trying to address???
……..Yeah, right.
The greatest threat to the USA today?, illegal immigrants?, extreme Muslim terrorism?
...No, it's white nationalism.
Trump was a total disaster for a president. He was one of the shittiest presidents to set foot in the white house. The most absurd things he was mumbling were the comments about women and their rights which should never exist. I feel great every time I see people like https://www.crunchbase.com/person/karim-jivraj live as they fight for all the weak characters that are just looking for a better life far from their home. I think Trump would be one of his worst enemies. Have you seen such a thing recently with Biden as a president?
Let's all be sure to wish Ex-President Trump a happy 75th.
😁

Perhaps you guys could post these guitar-centric posts in 'William's Wonderful World Of Guitars' or maybe start a new thread with a 'My Favourite Guitars' title? They'll tend to get lost under the 'Political' header to this thread.
By the way, nothing wrong with a bit of political discourse now and again. We're all fairly adult, bright people with forward thinking. progressive and liberal opinions, all of which are worthy of expression. And remember, no one is forcing anyone to read through posts that may not chime with theirr own outlook.
Free speech is fine as long as it's done with respect to other opinions and doesn't turn into a free for all fight. A little bit of kindness can go a long way towards opening closed minds to new ideas.
I realise that these things can become heated and divisive but we all live in a world where political issues shape our attitudes and, particularly for musicians like myself, it's a matter of some concern as to what kind of people rule the way we live. Artists generally tend to favour the 'left wing,' and are more liberal, so, for better or worse, you won't find much conservatism amongst their ranks, (or from me for that matter.) But let's keep the discourse in perspective and not build barricades. Let's build bridges instead...😉
I bought an Airline Map a couple of years ago (as a Wire fan, it had to be seafoam green), but I would have been tempted by the new flame tops if I hadn't. It's got a really nice full tone and is comfortable to play. The only thing that bugs me is, like some other guitars, it has independent volume controls and a pickup switch, but only one tone control. If you've got a pickup switch, why do you need two volume controls? OK, you could make subtle tonal changes by having different volume settings with the pickup switch in the middle position, but you could have far more tonal flexibility with independent tone controls.
I think we all do react, from time to time..it's mostly just letting a bit of steam off.
I used to have a white Airline Map, nice guitar, I'm sure you'll love it.
At one time, I had two Campbell American BN Nelsonic Transitone guitars, now both gone.
I don't get overly sentimental or 'precious' over guitars and once I think I've had my run with a particular guitar I can sell it, or a couple, to buy something new I really fancy and want to try out, no qualms, not a problem...But in hindsight, I wish I had kept one of the Transitone's, fabulous to play and just felt so right.
My most recent buy was an Ibanez Tim Henson, it's really nice.
Hope you have fun with the Eastwood.
Which is inaccurate, because you did say something...I made the original comment in this thread, it's always been something I abhor and was particularly active in the media when made, thus I thought it worth a mention..As you can see, apart from my 'LOL' comment, I have made no other comments in the thread. You would struggle to find half a dozen 'political' comments from me in any thread in Williamm's World, or The World Outside The Window, just not my cup of tea in general..I have made comments about extreme right wing knuckle dragging thugs, police brutality and fascism and repression in general, all totally unacceptable in my opinion, no matter where it occurs.
I mean, it's just a thread, nothing offensive or inflammatory, nothing was being thrust into your face, that's just silly.. hence the LOL....If any individual doesn't like a particular thread, then don't interact with it, unless there have been personal or abusive comments or references made, even trolling or baiting..Then, that's something different.
I am keeping well, sauropod, thank you..and I hope you are too.
Even though things are gradually starting to pick up, there are still so many uncertainties, I think the reality is we will have to slog the rest of this year out, before we see some kind of normal return..let's hope sooner, rather than later..people are trying their best to keep going....and a big treat for us will definitely be being back on the live gigging scene, I think most people here will have really missed that...and smaller musicians and bands, who don't release a lot of music, rely on the gigging circuit as a living...The live arts has has suffered terribly..the hospitality sector and so many others...The sooner this is all just a bad dream, the better.
Take care.
Following to Tourist's "LOL" comment:
This was not always the case. Opinions, or how people post on forums, change with age.
I *used to* respond/instigate politically here. That shifted to purely reacting to what I saw posted. That shifted to what I do now, which is to not say anything.
I hope you're keeping well, Tourist. Hoping soon we will be able to see live music again.

Let me also add, I come here, in part, to learn to be a better guitarist and musician.
... ta...
I don't come to billnelson.com to discuss politics. I hate having it (particularly when most of the opinions I vehemently disagree with) thrust into my face.
Now, how about those White Falcons and White Penguin guitars?
Jeez. Why resurrect this thread after 18 months? For those of us who are here to enjoy and discuss Bill’s music and escape the political squabbling can this one be at least moved to The World Outside The Window?
Trump is one of th emost dilusional politicians the US has ever seen. It's similar to the ones we have in Canada.
This is part of a review of a black metal album
...it will transport you to a place of constant euphoric rage all the same. This is the cacophonous clamor we've come to expect from Iceland, made all the more captivating and calamitous by its creepy exuberance and keen sense of patience. A slow burning grease-fire of the mind, this album is a deranged marriage of brooding hostility and pure unbridled psychosis.
By just changing a couple of words to 'Trump' you get what, at least to me, sums him up perfectly

It is ALL directly related to Agent Orange, and his flame fanning.

A scam...pretending to be 'left wing' to try and shift the blame from the right for these atrocities. Get rid of the guns and you'll reduce the killings. Educate the people and you'll reduce it even further.
