Ronald Bell, a.k.a., Khalis Bayyan definitely had a catchy approach to music like some of his contemporaries, with jazz, pop and uniquely addictive backing vox. I liked the kind of deadpan singing as well in front.
Jungle Boogie from childhood onward is an addictive song and when I was a teen, I found Get Down On It irresistible, even though I didn't want to find it irresistible and even though it was overplayed. I have to confess I didn't like Celebration although at an NBL game or an NFL game and an NBA game, it really sunk in how great it is.
She's Fresh I loved straight away, which was the same for Ladies Night, but .... ughh .... really tried to ignore Joanna, even though that didn't last long. Those backing vocals were and are soooo intoxicating.
Joanna is up there with Jungle Boogie in my opinion.
🙁 Spirit of the Boogie is on my list of albums I can’t live without.
