...Better than the original?...don't know about that, I love the original version and X-Ray Spex.
This is a really great version by Cliffdiver, though and I really like the faster pace...and a neat little guitar solo, to boot..😎
BTW, Cliffdiver bass player, Tyler Rogers, was almost killed in a freak car-accident three or four days ago...Thankfully, after losing around 4 pints of blood, having his carotid artery punctured and his jugular lacerated and fractures in his neck, following emergency surgery and intensive care, he is out of danger and stable and latest news looks like he's now out of hospital and back home. So a speedy recovery and best wishes to him...Hope you're back playing with the band very soon Tyler and able to tour in July.

Johnny owns this one. I can't watch this without tears in my eyes.😥
With gray temples and a weathered face, Cash seems to look back on his turbulent life in the now legendary music video (awarded with a Grammy Award). Director Mark Romanek filmed Johnny Cash in his own home in Nashville, because the singer was too weak to come to Los Angeles: "In the beginning of the clip you see Johnny playing guitar in the living room. Unexpectedly, his wife June came during the filming. down the stairs to take a look too. The look on her face was so complex: full of love and pride for her husband. I asked her if I could film her too and I was allowed to." Shortly after the shooting, his wife June dies of complications after heart surgery. Johnny Cash, in deep mourning, dies himself 3 months later on September 12, 2003.

Bryan Ferry - A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall [Official]
No doubt about it! Killer version of this much covered tune
A bit of Dead Moon anyone?
I saw them a couple of times back in the 90's. Killer in a very basic sort of way.
And now from the might Dead Moon Tribute album
If you are interested, you can hear the whole tribute album here.
There is no digital version without buying the vinyl release. Still, it is tempting. I can always give the vinyl away.
Another favorite cover version.
Hard to top the original version featuring Lever Burton 😀
Cover versions don't get any better than this..The Johnny Cash version of Trent Reznor's (Nine Inch Nails) 'Hurt'...Very powerful.
Grace Jones version of Private Life better than the Pretenders original...err, no.
But I love this dub version
Ain't That Peculiar by Japan. As much as I like the original and I love Marvin Gaye's vocals, I think Japan took this thing to the next level.
Better? Definitely my preferred versions of these tracks🎸
