It's an album I don't see mentioned too much here in Dreamsville..Jon, Alec, Steve and myself have given it praise, and that's ok to all the others that have not (and apologies to those that have, that I haven't mentioned)..it's all about personal connection. The reason I mention this?..well, my very favourite BN albums include Sailor Bill(#1), Golden Melodies, Stereo Star Maps, Dreamland To Starboard, Dazzlebox, Gleaming, Return To Jazz Of Lights, Rosewood(1), Mazda...I'd better leave it there, or there will be a list of 20, lol....But, I find myself going back to Lamplighter, time and time again.
I'm listening right now...my family are all safely sleeping, I'm still up burning the candle, habit of a lifetime, understanding and forgiving woman in my life (I'm so lucky), totally relaxed, a few Jonnie Walker Green Labels, all's well with the world...at least until we watch the news tonight.
Point is, the more I listen to this wonderful album, the more I fall in love with it...It's actually competing with Sailor Billđ˛.....sometimes I think it might be my favourite Bill Nelson album.
...And!...any Be Bop fans that haven't jumped into Bill's solo recordings, well, that's fine too, but if you're looking for mind-blowingly fabulous guitar work, please try this album...Fantastically haunting, always touching the melancholy, reaching back to something we once knew, but definitely a firm message for the here and now!............gloriousness...It's superb!!
Any thoughts???
Okay, Tourist. Youâre making me put âThe Last Lamplighterâ in the queue to play next.
Remember liking it when it came out, but havenât given in a spin in too long. That said, I note your #1 Bill album is âThe Alchemical Adventures Of Sailor Billâ which isnât on my Top 10 list. I much prefer âNeptuneâs Galaxyâ, the companion album to âSailor Billâ. But thatâs just me.
Different strokesâŚ
