I've mentioned on more than one occasion here in the forum, that this album is probably my favourite Bill Nelson recording..always a difficult thing to do, amongst so many great recordings and probably quite a futile 'pursuit' really, but we all do have our favourites.
If I look at it from that old clichéd perspective, of being stranded on a desert island and you could only have one album, etc, etc, then The Alchemical Adventures Of Sailor Bill, would be it.
Why?...well I could think of, and remember very fondly, all the great albums and recordings I've had and listened to over the years, but I would be able listen to this..🙂😎
One of your greatest albums Bill, along with it's companion Neptune's Galaxy. For a while back then, it was all I listened to. The mood, the production and the playing is just beautiful.
Hard to believe that this album was released as long ago as 2005. It still ranks with me as one of the very best albums of my solo career, an extremely personal and autobiographical work that sits as close to my heart now as it did when it was first recorded. If there was ever to be just one single album that encapsulated the essential core of my being, it would be 'The Alchemical Adventures Of Sailor Bill.'
Of all the (prolific) output you make and deliver to the world, this is by far (in my opinion) your greatest work. Every track invokes so many memories of my youth, thoughts of times never to be had or seen again and dreams of any even earlier time.
Thank you so much for this Bill - and for never resting on your laurels.
Wonderful album.

I have to agree a sonic landscape, always a pleasure to listen too.
