I'm a Studio One user, on Mac M1, I'm on learning curve of "home" production and would love to know how to get the tomtom bubble sound of the drums in "Ships in the Night"....
Anybody got any ideas on how to get freq/env emulated? was it pedal, was it a circuit, or a chain of tape effects.
It has to be one of the Unique sounds of the 70's and I would like to apply it to Singing bowls and Gongs in some healing tones tracks.
Any information appreciated.
Must have been amazing to utilize some of the same gear and rooms as the Beatles. Legendary stuff.
I'm afraid it would be impossible to re-create the exact sound. The recording was made over 40 years ago at Abbey Road studios using all analogue technology, tape delays, tape phasing, physical room reverbs, echo chambers and so on. Digital technology didn't exist back then, effects had to be created by manipulating tape and real room spaces, all recorded with vintage mics in different positions and proximities. Plug-ins won't do the same job I'm afraid.
