Bill, after a couple of days thought, I’m still no nearer to an explanation as to why I don’t like the album. I do not want to upset other forum members who obviously love everything you release, so I need to be careful what I say. I was subject to abuse on this forum last year for speaking my mind. It is a sorry state of affairs though to censor what I think so as not to upset other people.
All I can say Bill is that my musical taste is not stagnant and frozen in the past. I do not expect new renditions of what you did in the 70s and 80s. I believe my taste in music is exceptionally varied and I truly like most of what you do. As I own everything you have ever recorded apart from two albums if my data is correct, to not like the odd one here and there is surely acceptable. I follow the artist Tim Hecker and own everything he has released. He came up with an absolute stinker of an album last year, in my opinion! He has just released another album drawing on the previous year’s work, and it is good. I think it is healthy to criticize. Life would be boring if everything was perfect.
I will listen to Secret Club... again and my opinion may change. To lie and say it is brilliant at this juncture wouldn’t rest easy in my mind. I don’t want another Futurama styled album. That is the past, but it is I think it healthy to every so often reminisce!
