"Watching My Dream Boat Go Down in Flames" was an instant classic. But, hey, no-one is mentioning the free poster. That was a neat touch. I've always wondered who the model was.
Haven't listened to 'Savage Gestures' in a long time. 'The Man In The Rexine Suit' was the track from it I always remembered. But listening again now to 'Watching My Dream Boat Go Down in Flames' - what an incredible, haunting track. If I were a film director, I would create a final, dramatic scene of a blockbuster movie just to use that track!
My record player and my records disappeared decades ago, so I haven't heard the album except for one or two tracks on you tube for a long time, The same goes for the Twofold aspect of everything. I remember there was a really good ambient instrumental track on Savage Gestures but I can't remember the title.
Yes, I also have Vistamix. I didn't realize that I already had all six songs from Chimera on there until I compared the two discs. All in all, what I have is 2 copies of Chimera, and the rest of the songs on both discs provide another set of wonderful songs that could make another album. If I had realized that I had all of Chimera on Vistamix, I may not have bought Chimera. It turns out to be one of the best mistakes I've ever made.
I had the original album on vinyl and got a copy on Amazon from a seller on cd that was a combination of Savage Gestures and Chimera. It's on the Cocteau label, so it was a legitimate release, but it seems like such a strange duck to put these two albums on one disc. Does anyone else have this particular disc? Thoughts about it?
I had the same experience as you, Swampboy. I loved the vinyl release, but really love the CD that combines the 2 albums. You get to hear 2 different sides of the same artist, and true art is all about contrasts, isn't it? A similar approach was taken on Duplex - you had one vocal and one instrumental album. Or Joy Through Amplification, where you had the Ampex tracks between the others.

I just looked at the track listing, it wasn't Portrait of Jan which is on You tube, I think it could have been Narcosis

Got it on vinyl 😊
Does anyone know if this will be re released on cd or as a download in the future?

I assume it’s because they were both ‘mini’ albums released in the same year (1983)
