There's a new journal entry waiting for you to read. It contains some memories from the year 1968 and also has four photographs illustrating the text. Have a look and a read...
It's not often I can claim to being in the right place at the right time, but for once I was: By sheer chance, I was in Thornes Park when Bill played that concert. I was ten at the time and the band playing there on stage was the loudest thing I've ever heard - guitars screamed like jet engines, the drums were thunderous detonations, as loud as ships' cannon. I did go on stage and asked the drummer for his autograph, which should still be in my autograph book, and which is probably tucked away somewhere in my loft... oh, if only I could find that autograph book. I could prove I saw Global Village - and Bill Nelson - live back in '68. Much later, I bought BBD's Hot Valves EP, realized I'd discovered music that I loved, and have been a fan of Bill's work ever since, and it's only fairly recently that I've realized I saw him play in Thornes Park all those years ago.
Reckon it’s probably fair to say at this point that you and Syd Barrett, around that same period of time. were thinking along similar lines with regards to trouser selection. 🤔
Are those blue velvet trousers, Bill, you've got on at Thornes Park?
Obviously, you're not stoned but just one with the music.
That was a pretty cool haircut, similar to the 'Northern Dream' haircut, methinks. There's one photo' from around that period, which I don't know where to find now, where you're standing more model-pose posed-like but I think your hair is longer.
Quite a bit of Marshall representation that day but you also had a Selmer, like the one barely visible, isn't that right, and you're going through a Vox?
Sad 😳. Very good and intriguing site. Thank you 👍
Alec, those pants are devine for the the times but the birthday suit in the background,,,, may I say,,, superior !!!!
