I just found this...
"...and here is the front sleeve for Fiat Lux's forthcoming brand new album which is entitled Twisted Culture. Sleeve design by Lee Walsh. Cat no SPLIDLP/CD 27. It will be available first exclusively at our Oct 30th concert in Halifax, UK: https://www.ents24.com/.../the-workshop.../fiat-lux/6215024 then released worldwide in November."
i second that emotion
Just had a listen to Hope, that is one cracking song, wonder who played the ebow?! Thanks for the heads up.
Belatedly returning to say a couple of things about this new Fiat Lux album.
It's really very good. Gentler and less electro-driven than the previous one (Saved Symmetry) but still with that particular sleek, melodic quality they've always had, driven by bass and strong singing and still with interesting sax, clarinet and oboe lines.
Try to get an opportunity to listen to one of the new songs from the album, called 'Hope'. As a song, its structure and lyrics aren't like any Bill Nelson song I can think of but the whole second half is given over to a superb 'tribute to 1980s Bill' passage - Ebow and marimba all the way to the end! Great fun - like a Bill outtake appearing from nowhere. It must have been intentional. I'd love to hear more of this sort of thing - whoever writes and performs it!
The live clips from 2018-19 on Y**T*** are really good - I seriously can't get to Halifax anytime soon though. There does seem to be a Birmingham gig in November however.
I hope no-one minds me putting this in William's World. The link to Ian N in the band's signature sound is still very strong so to me it's still his band.
