Impressed with mine too. My original was on cassette and an early CD issue followed. I like this better. I spent a bit on decent kit earlier this year and do all my listening on headphones,so I think that impacts on the texture of the sound.
Futurama winging it's way as I type and Sunburst will be next. I will be treating these as set aside albums for serious listening with the Sennheisers clamped to my swede. Don't have speakers as such as I wanted to just sit and zone out with my collection now and again. This does give a different feel to the music.
Arrived here today! Will be spending considerable time this weekend wading through it all. Especially the "official bootleg". Didn't realise that was to be included, so a delightful surprise.
Listening to the new stereo mix now. Sounds good to me! I know that Bill has his own views on remixes - would you touch up the Mona Lisa? :) - but this one sounds fine to me. In fact, I haven't noticed any significant differences from the original - but everything is crystal clear.
MM became my favourite BBD album. When I first heard it, I was underwhelmed by it, after the pomp of Futurama and the pyrotechnics of Sunburst Finish. But with repeated listening it worked its way into my brain. I became used to and understood the structure, and it became a wonderful piece of music - both consistent and varied, if that makes sense. The songs are, of course, very different, but to me they make up a much more cohesive whole than the preceding albums. As I said, my favourite BBD album.
