Further to my posts on the 'MYSTERY ALBUM' thread a few weeks ago, here's the latest news about 'MIXED UP KID', a single disc album recorded after 'My Private Cosmos' was assembled. The list of possible tracks for this album has now changed. I ended up with 19 tracks to choose from and have put together a running order of 18 of them. I'm not entirely sure, at this stage, if 18 tracks will fit on a single CD, but as two or three tracks are not particularly long, we might be able to squeeze all 18 onto the disc.
I've been working, these last couple of days, on the proposed running order of the tracks and will let you see that here in this post. The album contains a mixture of vocal and instrumental recordings, with a broad mix of styles, hence the album's title: 'Mixed Up Kid.'
I'm very pleased with the way this one has turned out as I think there are some excellent pieces here for you to enjoy!
I'm hoping to get this album released in time for Christmas, partly as a sort of companion piece to 'My Private Cosmos', but also as a less expensive alternative album of brand new recordings for fans who might feel that a six cd earbook luxury box set is a little out of reach for them at this point in time.
There is still some work to do on 'Mixed Up Kid' though, and the hoped for December release date will depend on getting this done in time for manufacturing.
First of all, whilst I've chosen the track running order, I haven't yet decided on which mixes of those tracks should be used. (Many of the tracks have alternative mixes.) I'll be listening carefully over the next day or so to make those important decisions.
Also, artwork and package layout needs to be addressed, as does the mastering of the 18 tracks at Fairview Studio with John Spence putting the master disc together and making sure the levels of the tracks all match up. So still quite a bit to do. However, I'll try to get all this moving along as soon as possible and keep my fingers crossed for a release this year. And this one is going to really hit the spot for many of you, trust me!😉
So, here's the final running order for 'Mixed Up Kid' !

We need all Bill’s releases -they are addictive in the best way !
Loving the anticipation of more new releases but when, if ever, are we likely to see the release of the dozen or so recordings that must now have been about 5 years in the waiting room? "Bill Nelson - The Missing Years" sounds a good name if you put them out as a boxed set.
Oh, Swinging Guitars, great album title! 🙂
Great news, clear the decks of all those Be Bop live CDs, they'll have to wait. We want the latest sounds from Bill's swingin' guitars!
With the final mixes selected for the 19 tracks that comprise the 'Mixed Up Kid' album, I headed over to Fairview Studio today to transfer all the tracks to the studio's's computer in readiness for the mastering process under the watchful ear of my buddy John Spence. Always lovely to see John and have a chat about our lives and life in general. Listened back to the tracks on Fairview's big monitor speakers which reveal a lot of detail that isn't always available on my home studio system. But, thankfully, the tracks sound pretty good.
Also the packaging layout is under way with Martin Bostock adding text and design framework to the images I've created for the package. Looks like we will be just about on target to get this one released in December alongside 'My Private Cosmos.' Lots of new music for fans to dig into!
And fateful that the second 🎱 is titled "M A Y B E I T S M Y E Y E S" 🤓
It was meant to be SO let's keep double 8's!
Hopefully this will be available soon -
Hopefully a download via Bandcamp .
Please keep up the good work👍👍
cheers

Whoops! Have been copying the correct mixes of the tracks onto a memory stick to take over to Fairview for mastering when John might be available to deal with them, but suddenly realised that the numbering on the track list I posted the other day was wrong. I'd listed two songs as being number 8! I thought the total track count came to 18 as a result;t but now, having spotted the mistake, I realise the track list really comprises 19 songs, NOT 18, so it's even better value!
If you were to use a song title that has already been used on an existing release, well that would just add to the whole mystery of it all😉....Would take a keen eye/good detective to spot it though!..🧐
Bill, do you have some kind of digital almanac with all your previous titles in it, and have you ever had two pieces of music with the same title…not counting deliberate uses of a 1 and 2 title sequence?
Looks great - great news !
(Applause!)
How does he do it?..🧐🤯
More exciting news for 2021!
Bloody hell Bill 😳😬❤️
