No, that's probably it, PM. I hadn't counted those separately from the 'new stereo mixes' on disc 3. A bit disappointing that so much of the previously unreleased material is simply album remixes. Like Bill, I'm quite happy with the original!
The fully new material (previously unheard recordings), then, is really just 11 of the 15 demos on disc 4 and the final two tracks on disc 1.
Just to clarify, the bit I'm trying to make sense of is the '43' mentioned in this part of Cherry Red's description of the 4CD+2DVD set:
This expanded deluxe reissue has been newly re-mastered from the original master tapes and features an additional 88 tracks, (43 of which are previously unreleased), drawn from stunning new 5.1 surround sound & stereo mixes from the original multi-track tapes by award winning engineer Stephen W. Tayler, previously unreleased out-takes from the album sessions, a BBC Radio John Peel Show session from January 1978, along with a CD of Bill Nelson’s previously unreleased demos for the album, “A Feeling of Playing”.
I can't so far find 43 previously unreleased anything - I think we're up to 32 in what has been listed so far. If anyone can explain what 43 tracks are being referred to, I'll shut up!
Thanks for that list, Bill. Where did you find it? Sounds like really interesting listening and a good CD set... except... I think it still leaves us about ten "previously unreleased" songs short of the 43 Cherry Red claim the boxed set contains. Is there some of the video on the DVD that counts as unreleased tracks?
I notice they only give track listings for 3 discs from the 4 CD, 2 DVD deluxe set. Obviously most fans will want to know what's on the A Feeling Of Playing disc.
See my theory above that they are demos for the Drastic Plastic album. The "Music In Dreamland" book says that Bill wrote 21 songs for that album, which coincides nicely with TheMikeN's estimate of "over 20" :)
"A Feeling Of Playing" is clearly a centrepiece of this box for collectors and completists. [I doubt I'll be able to afford this huge set though, so I'm just looking at what I'll miss if I again just buy the 2CD pack].
The Cherry Red website strangely omits any tracklisting for this "AFOP" CD of demos. However, their claim that the box contains "43 unreleased" tracks suggests that there may be over 20 demos included.
I can't imagine that such a set of unfinished versions was Bill's favourite 'donation' to the compilation process - but it's a really intriguing idea.

"A Feeling Of Playing", never heard this mentioned before.

One way of reading that would be to take "the album" to mean "Drastic Plastic", and "A Feeling of Playing" to be a name which has just been given to that album of demos. Not sure why you'd do that, though.
DP was originally intended to be a double album, wasn't it? Hence the additional tracks which mostly ended up on "The Best Of And The Rest Of". So there could well be lots of demos around, perhaps including some for tracks which we have never heard.
Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a new re-mastered six-disc deluxe expanded boxed set limited edition (comprising 4 CDs and two NTSTC – Region Free DVDs) of “Drastic Plastic” the classic 1978 album by BE BOP DELUXE.
“Drastic Plastic” would be the final Be Bop Deluxe album and was recorded in the summer of 1978 in the South of France at The Villa Saint Georges, Juan-les-Pins, utilising the Rolling Stones mobile studio, with final sessions taking place at The Manor Studio and Abbey Road Studios. The record saw BILL NELSON (vocals, guitars, keyboards), CHARLES TUMAHAI (bass, vocals), ANDY CLARK (keyboards) and SIMON FOX (drums) venture into new musical styles, with the album being ground-breaking in its move to more “art rock” and “new wave” influences. In many ways it can be seen as the signpost to where Bill Nelson would head with his RED NOISE project with a desire to continue to progress as an artist by pushing musical boundaries.
Really looking forward to this, the quality of the previous Cherry Red boxes has been excellent. I knew it was sensible to leave a gap on the shelf after the Modern Music box!...
I've been waiting for this, my favourite BBD album!
I remember working in Guy Norris Records in East Ham (London) when it was released, played it non-stop. The manager has only ordered in 5 copies and thanks to my relentless promotion they all sold out in just over a day. I ordered in another 20 copies (manager went mad), but all sold in no time.
Ordered.
Bill, you are costing me a fortune at the moment. I hope the wife doesn't see how much I've spent in the last few weeks!

Ordered. I love all the previous Cherry Red deluxe sets, and this, as my favourite Be Bop Deluxe album, is the one I’ve been waiting for!
Do we know if there will also be a deluxe treatment of Live! In The Air Age coming along in due course?
