I just put my version of Bowie in the Dreamville Ultraland Underworld, and it's not as good as Bowie doing Bowie. But I have to ask about Bowie's guitarist -- whose name escapes me and, I'm too lazy to google it. I have to ask if the album with him and Bill is anything to rave about? It seems he just picked up his bed and walked away from Bowie, and we'll never hear from him again. Bowie tried to pick up his own bed and walk, but that didn't get him too far. At least he got a Broadway musical from it. But I digress. Is the album with him and Bill any great shakes?

Srry Jon im deleting my comments cos i should know better
Yeah, I'm disappointed with this album because of Naz the Laz for a couple of reasons. First, Bill is in the second spot as far as the credits. 2) The album is heavily produced, and it's mainly the technology that comes across. I could almost see Reeves saying, "Computer, I want my guitar to play a million notes with some pull-offs, tapping, and bends. Bill, get ready to do your part as soon as my computer has finished. I have to go for lunch. Do you want anything from the Savoy? I hear the chocolate cake is just faaaabulous!" In other words, he is not pulling his own weight, except maybe for being a computer technician. I think the emphasis on technology was Reeve's idea.
The psychobabble sound, I readily credit to Reeves and his technology. But there is no intimacy, no trade-offs, no give and take that is not highly edited. If they could have grabbed two acoustic guitars and played them together, then you would know who is who on the guitar and what is being said. So “fantastic” guitar really means how many effects you can pile on and still think it is a guitar instead of a computer line. In other words, the playing gets buried in all the processing.
There are some good things about the album. First, you are amazed at what technology can do. It can give an inhuman precision to most things human. Reeves and Bill can really play, but you know that because of their age. Most people are not really fooled by technology. The technology also comes with a certain sound, which is unfortunate to hear. It's like a coloration you see in CGI movies. The sound detracts from the musical ideas and puts a patina on things. It's like a lens or filter. It would be nice to see them pull off these things live and then look at the musical ideas. So far, a lot of extraneous, distracting things are in the way.
But this tampering with technology might be the state of the ART in music these days. Who knows?
If you go to the underworld in Dreamsville -- two floors down -- you can hear my stuff. It truly is fantastic… the ideas are incredible, especially Stairway to Heaven. I'm not the only one saying that… go there and find out.
..otherwise it will make you blind
Lets hear your 'fantastic album '
Okay, I've downloaded Fantastic Guitars. I can withstand anything but temptation. I hope it's a good album.
You've expended enough energy saying nothing. If you have a recommendation on a very good album of Bill's, then I'm all ears.
Dear me matey-boy....have you considered employing a little respect and personal restraint when making these rather offensive and ill-considered statements in your posts? I would like to expand on what it is you constantly get so horribly wrong, but I really would rather extend my energies and efforts into something more positive and worthwhile.....
And please leave Bill alone on this mad Sunburst Finish II debacle......it's a construct of your own fantasy and ego, bearing no relation to the state of play in his contemporary output or thinking......it's an insult for god's sake!!
Seriously! He's doing a gig with the Cure? Well, he didn't leave Bowie too long to hitch up with another mascara-loving spook. But is the album with him and Bill any good? I can see them dining out at the Savoy, but is it just frilly ornamental stuff, or do they really bite in? Are they just dancing around the second-order of chocolate cake, or are they pulling out the stops and fighting for that last bone? I guess it depends on how hungry and civilized they are. But good art is a struggle, and I'm wondering if they came out with something they could be proud of. A trophy they could put up at the Luxury Lodge.
you mean the current Cure guitarist ? LOL
