I just finished watching videos with Paul Stanley and Brian May sharing with their fans during this quarantine period. Mr. May's effort is most definitely of humble quality -- He's using a phone to record it but if you ever want to see how he played the lead in Bohemian Rhapsody, pretty cool and very intimate (I mean, he's pretty comfortable in shorts). Mr. Stanley's is rhythm rock & roll which of course was his gig, can't fault him for that. He gives very caring advice at the end.
Would it not be so incredible to have our hero show us how he plays the lead in Crying to the Sky or Axe Victim...Or even the eBow awesomeness in Above these Clouds the Sweetest Dreams (Yes, I have the DVD but the cameraman was not that interested in creating a lesson)?
Just a wish, oft repeated, oft denied.
Just a couple of thoughts:
1 I think the whole point of the Brian May videos is show that he is one of us and in the same boat as the rest of us, which I guess why he is using a phone and a small practice amp.
2 BM has been playing the Queen songs live for a long time now so you would think that he has never been far away from the solos he is showing us. Not the same with Bill - when was the last time BBD toured or when was the last time Bill played those songs. I'd appreciate videos from Bill too, perhaps a demonstration of his ebow technique or how to play some more recent solos. I strongly suspect that Bill is concentrating on more recording. Also what we do get as fans is a person who keeps in touch using his forum and diary - long may that continue!
