Andy Edwards who provides drums for Tim Bowness ostensibly picks bones with Tim about the Album Years podcast but ends up instead with a similar sort of TAY discussion with Tim in below clip...
At around the 52-minute mark when the likes of JAPAN and Foxx-era Ultravox are being discussed vis-a-vis prog, punk, new wave, Andy praises Bill Nelson.
Enjoyed all of the episodes concerning the year 1972
As a massive KC fan I can’t agree with Fripp & Wilson’s view of The Howler….as a listener who has based his listening on the bedrock of Gentle Giant & King Crimson listening to chat by anyone quickly pales once the music is played.
Hopefully feedback from last night’s York Event will be plentiful.
Did Ian Nelson play sax, uncredited, on TLTW (doath) ?
Thank you Jon for the link. Really enjoyed the podcast. Glad to hear, I think it was Tim , accurately describe Bill's guitar playing as "virtuoso" - which it is. Thanks again, Rob.
The album years podcast is like listening to the same things the NME used to print in the late 70s early 80s .... banal opinions about most of the music I had no interest in at the time ... Steven Wilsons opinions are a lot like his music ...occasionally insightful but mostly conservative and derivative ...... sounds a little harsh but there you go 😉
I’ve now listened to several of The Album Years podcasts and I now understand what Tim means by ‘trying’ in this context. It’s more about experimenting, trying new things. 😎

Tim saying, ‘Trying’ and ‘Really trying’ gave me a bit of a jolt. ⚡️ I might’ve said, ‘Enjoying’ and ‘Really enjoying’ 🤷♂️ Neat though. Subscribed. Thanks, Jon. 🙏
…great timing…just playing this now in my BN playback…will give them a listen. Thanks.
