I still upload my own instrumentals and songs to Soundclick as
Soundclick.com/majorsnagg
From about 2010 onwards there seemed to an exodus from Soundclick. Why and where did they go? I can't believe that people just stopped making their own recordings or simply tranferred their loyalties to YouTube.
As a home recordist I just can't understand it...anybody got any answers?
I use Tunecore who then distribute to all platforms. There is a cost, but not to bad. Worth a look.
I'm on yootoob a lot, snagging mp3s with a program for that. I have loads of fractals that would otherwise sit and collect cyberdust, so I use them as stills in videos for my noise. I still have Soundclick, and some on Soundcloud, but hardly ever go to either one. dogboydar on youtube, and oh, youtube because I make work videos DogBoyDar - YouTube
I still have several Soundclick pages active, but haven't uploaded anything there for ages. For Electric Angels, BobK and I like Bandcamp for albums, and use Reverbnation for singles, and Soundcloud for singles and Odds and Ends. Core Ten and The Symbolists, with Carole, are on Bandcamp. You can get stuff on Spotify, but that requires uploading for a feee through a distributor like CD Baby.
I listen to and download music from Spotify. This is the best streaming platform where there are different hits for every taste. And thanks to spotify promotion, you can make new hits popular very quickly.
I've been using Bandcamp. I like that you can separate the releases into albums with specific artwork. The format is easy to use and allows you to customize the entire presentation as well. You have the option of releasing pieces for a fee, or for free. I think you should check it out and see the flexibility it offers.
Thanks for the reply Vlad.
I was never on Soundclick but people I know enjoy Spotify. My stuff is usually in a video format so Youtube makes a lot of sense.
