I'm doing a duet with my ole buddy and ex-bandmate Chris Rockheart. We're doing a Tom Petty & Stevie Nicks song called Stop Dragging My Heart Around for Christmas. Here is the rough draft and I hope people have a chance to comment. Chris Rockheart is doing the bulk of the singing with Stevie's part, and I'm the doing Tom Petty part.
You are right Orphan. I've been thinking about redoing it. This is a work in progress and other things need to be done as well. Chris is too ghostly, maybe another organ part, change my voice, visually more of a unified theme, etc. My wife just read your post and said she agrees with you... and I can't let you and Madam Vlad down! So thanks for the input!
Just want to say this project was done over the internet via email. I did the bed-tracks and vocals and Chris did the rhythm guitar and lead vocals. I sent him the beds, and he sent me back his guitar parts first. He then sent me this vocal line and I harmonized with him and mixed everything down. The project is still not done because Chris wants a different organ sound, so he is sending me a file of what the organ should sound like. It is still a work in progress, and we have also to do the visuals over because Chris was bleeding through and looking like a ghost. And I'm ghastly white. Maybe we should call ourselves The Ghoulie Twins or Lynard Skynard Made us Angels.
The musical files we used are mp3s, and they are not the best sound quality. But overall it is starting to come together. The point is that it can be done. And right now I've sent grankspoine a midi file of Pirate Voyage to try out an idea. I'm eagerly waiting to see what he comes up with. So collaboration via the internet is very much possible and fun, as I'm finding out, and I encourage anyone to try it out.
