While reading the internet, an article caught my eye. It was a list of songs that evoked the Summer of Love - 1967. Certainly, the world was a different place then. Popular music was on AM Radio (here in the States). Anyway, the list had songs that I do not have in my library. So, I supplemented it to fill out an 80-minute CD-R.
If you are of a certain age, you may be able to access these tunes in the recesses of your mind. And to remind you that you are old, all of these groups are in the Hall of Fame or dead. Peace.

Hey, CAR dwell, I sent cd's a year or so ago, but you want more (label printed!). Did you not get the last batch? email me please, let me know, or not . Nothing new from 2024, but new chords are cooking !
Those Dreamsville projects were fun. St Vallentines had some very good music on it. Thanks for this Q.
Ok, I need your help. Wadcorp created my retirement letter that I have sent out. I would like to thank him by creating an 80-minute CD of Japanese tunes, as that has been my musical tastes of late. CD Japan has reissued lots of Yukihiro Takahashi, I have seen Band Maid in concert, Bill worked with YMO, Yukihiro, Gillcover & the Monkey, as well as other groups/artists. BBD did Japan. Japan went to Japan. David Bowie shares It is no game, Part 1 with a Japanese undertone. Pizzicato Five as well as Maki Nomiya are wonderful. Ryuchi Sakamoto and so many others make up the musical palate of Japan worldwide. World Citizen is such an example with David Sylvian.
I lean towards pop tunes, so to me the Baby Metal / Electric Callboy - Ratatata is fair game, as who does not love a quirky video? I have shared Band Maid / Cluppo as well as Gillcover as who does not love shiny guitar pop?
Yes, I am easily led by music videos. So, what should I include in an audio cd? All suggestions welcome. Post below. DEADLINE: a month from now, so I can assemble and get it into the mail before American Thanksgiving (the beginning of the Christmas Season).
Thank you.
With DEVO playing a film festival, where their documentary was playing got me to look into the library to assemble a playlist to acknowledge their impact over time. Your version may be different. They actually put out a two disc set that has been remastered that is pretty good. Here goes Spuds. 79 Minutes

Every article I read mentioned OHIO by C, S, N & Y. Since Neil was an early fan, I included it. The Live Tracks were from their LA Warners Debut Show. The Video Game had a cd of songs. I forget where I got Devo Was Right. It had to be on some sort of sampler. Seattle's own Soundgarden gets in on the fun. Empire is from a benefit album. I almost went with Wicked Little Doll from David's Feelings cd. And as far as I know, Invisible Man is the latest single. Still evolving after all these years.
I could not find Pee Wee's Playhouse.
With yet another passing in the music family, I dug into the archives to retrieve this list of rock-a-roke song offerings. Originally it was created as a thank you for KNDD 107.7 The End in Seattle WA USA. They had a band that played back up and invited audience members to belt one out on stage. Really rather fun.

KNDD 107.7 is the End. They would have groups come into their studios and they would play a set. I hope that when my time comes, my life will flash before my eyes like these concerts. Many of the groups I have had the good fortune to see in person.

The first song acts sort of as a gateway / time portal - the Sound, the Visuals, the Memories. Suddenly you are in 1990 Seattle and my guess is that you are wearing flannel. On your way to a show at the Off Ramp.
This collection draws heavily from the Singles deluxe edition soundtrack, as well as another movie set on the emerging music scene - Hype! Sub Pop was the local record company and one of their samplers is featured, as well as a collection that was put together by EMP - before it became MoPop. Wild & Wooly the northwest rock collection.
This is meant to be a GRUNGE greatest band collection if anything else. 79 minutes

I may have the Whimsy reversed discs version. I think that this is a good collection of signature songs that span some time. I think that it captures about all the phases of the career. Of course I have been trying to think what Bill said when he wrote that he envisioned himself as a big band leader. So several of the songs he is wearing a white dinner jacket in my mind.
Of course your version may differ. I would imagine that Radium Girl's would include: Atom Man Loves Radium Girl. Or that Dar's would include: RaDAR In My Heart. Or Wadcorp would include: My PHILosophy.
Anyway, I challenge you to post your idea of Bill's signature songs.
Of course a great cover should have a great play list.
CHALLENGE: put one together that would fit on a cd-r of 80 minutes.
I might have to start off with: Adventures In A Yorkshire Landscape from Radioland BBC Radio 1 Live in Concert.

This follows the actual show closer and I toss in some other local talents. The Jimi Hendrix song was covered by the Black Tones. They have a very talented female lead guitarist. It was a wonderful performance. On the show, it had Ken Griffey Junior call up Sir Mix A Lot who then does Baby Got Back. The Pearl Jam song was recorded at the HOME shows where the entire gate went to charity. I was in attendance. I think that the Charity Virtual concert interspersed with local nationally renown comedic actors raised over $48 million with the money going to the front line COVID-19 fighters as well as several Black Lives Matter charities. Although the performances were recorded then edited before the massive civil unrest - call for justice occurred, the broadcast was delayed and the introduction redone to better reflect the times. I think that the show is on Amazon Prime. There may be some performances on You Tube. Many Seattle Sonic jerseys appeared in the show. The Supersonics were our NBA team that was sold and moved to OKC. There were Mariner (baseball) and Seahawks (football) representation as well, as our other major sports teams. I do not remember seeing any Sounders uniforms (our twice champion soccer team). Our professional Rugby team is twice champion as well. They were going to defend their crown when the pandemic cancelled the season. Now as we wait for sports to start up again, we can listen to the music.
Great play lists. Keep well everyone.
