For DUNE fans. I haven't seen the latest, but I hear it's no great shakes. Done by the Villeneuve who did Blade Runner II. Both Dune and Villeneuve are batting 2 and 0. It's been like 40 years since the original, and we'll have to wait another 40 years for the next version. By then, mind you, if you turn on the TV you’ll probably be seeing Giant Worms attacking cities for real and Islamic headdresses everywhere on the planet. Dune would then have lost its futuristic SCIFI appeal. There is something attractive and impossible about Dune. I think Dune should be made in black & white and told as an Arabian Nights story while smoking in a hookah lounge with some Arab travelers. The fantasy should be out of the Arabian Nights, but the emphasis can’t be on special effects. It’s either a good story or it isn’t. Black & white is superior for mystery and intrigue. It is a chance for the viewer to create something that is THERE, even if there is nothing there at all. Things have to be suggested and implied, and that takes great acting skill. Theater of the mind. Dune should be done like film noir set to Arabian Nights music. The minimal will produce the maximum and most memorable effect.

That's cool Orphan. They'd be great to see!
The Count as a 70s child. My 76 Les Paul that I still have today. I have a Fender 87 Japanese strat that I now mostly use because of its lightweight. You can see it in Stairway to Heaven and Crazed Fandango.
Just to finish off the Vlad stuff, I'm adding Don't Fear the Reaper and Stairway to Heaven. There is more of Vlad, but this is sufficient for the time being.
Thanks again! I'll post Broken English and Wicked Games. In Broken English, the background is actually Marianne Faithful dancing around in her video but distorted into blobs and shapes. Broken English is a bit of tongue in cheek with the Karate moves and Bruce Lee pictures. So you're absolutely right on that score. Wicked Games is a bit overdone too with the overly dramatic handkerchief… but I like it that way.
