Well, I'm done my song, but not the video part. When I think of Bill and Jan and the ups and downs to unrequited love, I've come to a new wisdom. The tormented lover, trying to regain his lost love, is driven by two powerful forces: dopamine and insecurity. We go back to our old love because of the dopamine kick, our cells bookmark it as chemically very pleasurable. And, secondly, we go back to the person because they have something about themselves that is very important to us: a status, cool friends, a venerable family, etc., which without we are lesser in our own eyes. So this is the wisdom, but it didn't come out of analyzing the Bryan Ferry "Love is the Dopamine" song.
Now the video part which maybe Bill, or some fan who has been smitten with love, can suggest some images. The most distraught love song from Bill was on the four CD set with "Buddha Head" and "Electricity Made us Angels". I can't remember its name but it was at the last song -- a magus opus of sorrow, a somnolent epic. The human face looked up, the angels looked down and laughed, and the human face turned and looked down as well. Take that image, put it in a bar scene, and what other images follow?
Anyway, I'm looking for a response from this group because I'm stuck at the moment. Also, I like to ask if BBD ever played The Royal Albert.
A last note: Dar, read what I said. I am asking people to contribute, not just Bill. I am asking people in general about LOVE. I mention Bill's albums and what are his and other people's thoughts on love. Love and his albums are the subject, not my work. I only mention my work to tell people that I am looking for their input on the subject of LOVE. I said that I'm stuck on the problem of LOVE and mention Bill's albums to bring out the nature of love. Again, Love and Bill's albums are the subject matter and what is talked about.
I ask people to read carefully. Don't assume or let your prejudices get in the way. This could have been a productive exchange on the nature of LOVE and as it is found in Bill's work.
Get thee to 'The World And His Wife ' forum with these sorts of posts, please! This is not the place to promote or discuss your own musical efforts. I'm getting rather tired of reminding you of this. Thank you.
